The Amalfi Coast is one of the world's most celebrated stretches of coastline — a UNESCO World Heritage Site where dramatic limestone cliffs plunge into the turquoise Tyrrhenian Sea, and where pastel-coloured villages cling to the rock face as though defying gravity. It is Italy at its most theatrical, most romantic, and most delicious.
The coast's three jewels — Positano, Amalfi and Ravello — each have their own distinct character. Positano is the most glamorous, a cascade of pink and white houses tumbling to a pebble beach. Amalfi is the historic heart, with its magnificent cathedral and Arab-Norman architecture. Ravello sits high above the sea, a place of gardens, music and extraordinary views.
Add to this the island of Capri just offshore, the ancient ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum nearby, and the culinary riches of the Campania region — fresh pasta, buffalo mozzarella, limoncello and the world's best pizza in nearby Naples — and you have one of the world's great travel experiences.

The SITA bus connects all villages — cheap but crowded. Ferries are more scenic and often faster. Avoid driving in July–August.
The coastal road is extremely narrow with hairpin bends. If you must drive, go early morning. Parking is nearly impossible in Positano.
The Amalfi Coast is expensive. Budget ₹8,000–15,000/day. Eat at local trattorias away from the waterfront for better value.
